1. Balance sheet and earnings statistics
- Monthly balance sheet statistics: Monetary financial institutions (MFIs) and non-MFI credit institutions are required to submit monthly data on their assets and liabilities. These data serve as an important German contribution to the consolidated MFI balance sheet of the euro area.
- Lending statistics: In this process, detailed data on granted loans are collected on a quarterly basis, broken down by maturity, economic sector, and industry.
- Profit and Loss Statement (GuV): Once a year, the institutions report their income and expenses to enable a detailed analysis of the earnings situation and performance of the German banking sector.
2. Credit, interest rate, and money market statistics
- Credit Data Statistics (AnaCredit): Granular master data and credit risk data regarding loans to legal entities must be reported.
- MFI interest rate statistics: Institutions report interest rates and volumes for deposit and lending business with retail and corporate clients on a monthly basis.
- Money market statistics: Regular recording of daily transactions in the unsecured and secured money market sectors.
- Bank Lending Survey (BLS): Quarterly qualitative survey of selected banks regarding their policies, conditions, and credit demand in the private non-financial sector.
3. Payment Transactions Statistics (ZVS)
- Semiannual (ZVS 1–6): Reporting of account numbers, e-money top-up values, and payment cards by function (e.g., debit/credit function), as well as acceptance points/terminals such as ATMs or POS systems. In addition, fraudulent transactions (ZVS 5), including financial losses, are recorded.
- Quarterly (ZVS 9): Detailed recording of outgoing transactions (e.g., transfers, direct debits, checks), broken down by country and standardized Merchant Category Codes (MCC).
4. Securities, foreign exchange, and external economic statistics
